Supreme Court of the United States Upholds DACA

By EWIC

The Essential Worker Immigration Coalition applauds the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to disallow the Department of Homeland Security’s attempt to terminate the DACA program.

In the 5-4 decision written by Chief Justice John Roberts on Department of Homeland Security et al vs. Regents of the University of California, the Supreme Court held that the DACA recession was improper under the Administrative Procedures Act.

EWIC participated in an Amicus Brief that made this very point. We believe that the Administration did not go through the legally required procedures to end the program.

Today, over 700,000 foreign nationals have availed themselves of the opportunities provided by DACA, many work in our EWIC industries. We hope this decision spurs Congress to work towards a bipartisan legislative solution for DACA, TPS and for a new essential worker category.
